Delhi is reeling under a new kind of terror threat. This time the terrorists are tiny mosquitoes who came with the invisible weapons of mass destruction. They are smart, sharp and daring. They bite you in the broad daylight and one bite is enough to send you hospital. They are not selective in their acts; inclusiveness is rather hallmark of their approach. They don’t attack a certain sect, religion or cast. The only class that seems to be unaffected is politicians’ who have a skin thick enough not to get affected by these tiny creatures.
More and more people are succumbing to Dengue and hospitals are full of patients. South Delhi is worse affected. Holy Family hospital in South Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area does not have a single bed available. Several other hospitals also have the same story.
Civic agencies that were earlier trying to undermine the threat are now acknowledging it but to an extent. They are now involved in their favorite game – passing the buck. MCD is blaming Delhi Government and vice versa. After prolonged thought and meeting with the officials, union health minister enlightened us with the fact that the disease is spreading because of the debris ,left behind by massive construction work undergoing for Commonwealth games. But who is responsible for all this mess? And the bigger question is – why should common man suffer for the negligence of civic agencies?
Despite the so called efforts of MCD, mosquitoes are far from being overpowered. It seems they have mastered the art of surviving in India. They must have bribed the concerned authorities to keep their hands tied. Their bribing prowess seems to be the reason behind their success.
